"Citizen Cane" is indeed one of the best films ever made, that is why i took such offense to this review. Perhaps if you were writing about a movie like "Legally Blonde" i could forgive such a lack of anything CLOSE to a solid, intelligent opinion, but this is simply unacceptable. You're entire first paragraph was unnecessary You failed to mention any of the history of the film, like how it was BANNED from almost every theater in the country when it first came out or how it was not appreciated for the masterpiece it is until many years after its release. You did not discuss character development, or any of the characters besides Cane for that matter. Did you even know that Canes character was based on a real man? Do some more research, formulate some thoughts, analyze the characters and THEN write a review.

It's "Citizen Kane," not "Cane." For someone biting at my throat for not going into thet history of the film, you seem to be quite a hypocrite, as you cannot even get the title straight.
There's a reason I didn't go into the history of the film. Everyone knows by now that Kane is supposedly based on William Randolph Hearst, and how the film was banned when it came out due to Hearst trying to tear down Welles. I looked at other reviews, and they all discussed this.

Sorry, I got cut off. Anyhow, what I'm saying is that the fact of the matter is that the backdrop of "Kane" has been discussed in countless reviews, especially Roger Ebert's. So I just decided to go for the film's reputation of being no. 1.

Really ratings are arbitrary. So basically what you wanted to say is... it's Great... but not the greatest? Meanwhile you give absolutely no reasons for your opinion, or provide any films you think are better.
From some of your statements it seems like you barely understand what the film is about. Maybe you should ask Ebert to explain it to you sometime since you mention him repeatedly.
This review says absolutely nothing about Citizen Kane.
