Well, first off, read the books. All your main questions will be answered there. It is agreed, the Carey does a much better job in 'Eternal Sunshine Of A Spotless Mind' I loved that movie to the core, it was beautiful. He is simply not meant for this movie, the books are made to be creepy and disturbing, but he does not fit that role, agreed. Thank Nickelodeon [sp?] for that. As to why he want's their gold? Simple:
He's a villan. Yes, every single book up until, I believe the 5th, the children go to a new home. Its natural, thats what HAPPENS when you leave one home as an Orphan. [Use common sense, dude, what, just leave the Children sitting on an lsland somewhere? No, they go to a new home. Unoriginal? yes, understood. It has been happening for years.] Again, read or watch some books about Orphans, 'Pictures Of Hollis Woods' would be a good book for you in that part. He is evil, and Count Olaf want's gold. Its simply a matter of greed. Later on you will be introduced to Olaf's girlfriend, and learn the meaning of being in 'Style' which is utterly sickening, yet funny as hell. Naturally, Olaf want's money. Its his job. he kills children with large fortunes, along with their parents before hand. Do not make a review for this film UNLESS you have read the books. If you have not read the story, than the movies will make absolutely no sense to you.
Yes, Olaf shows up at every single place. He want's their money, what do you think he's gonna do? Sit around and wait for Violet to DIE? No, he's gonna get his butt up in there and make sure they go KAPUT. Like the meaning of a stalker. It is also supposed to show the stupidity of the stories, in which the parental's never believe these three children. Its a joke, tis a children's movie dear sir.
