I found the film to be a mildly entertaining diversion. The performances were decent enough and some of the effects were good. The ending though was terribly corny and not frightening in the least, almost ruining whatever goodwill I had built up beforehand.
Hardly a surprise that the film opened at number 1 with over 18 million but I expect it to drop 55% this weekend and give up the number one spot to the equally unnecessary (But hopefully entertaining) 'Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid.'
