I enjoy reading your reviews, but how could you not love this movie!??!
Brian Cox monologue was a beautiful ending! And what was even better is that everyone dominated their roles (especially Rosario Dawson and Barry Pepper).
I thought the elongated scenes were worthy b/c it was well-written and the dialogue depicted to a crisp each characters emotion. Spike Lee is a monologue-dominent writer/director. This was number 2 on my top ten of last year.
But that's what opinions are for, I was willing to sit through 134 minutes of this three times!
Hehe...
Keep writing, I look forward to reading your reviews in the future!

dave, dave, dave.................you just didn't get this one, did you?
The best movie of 2002. Lee makes you sympathize with Marty, even though you know he deserves what he is getting. Norton believably portrays a character with a bagful of regrets, not the least of which is his regret at the end for doubting Naturelle.
I do agree with you that the subplot with Hoffman and Paquin was unnecessary and distracting, but those two actors are always fun to watch, so what the hey?
