I agree with Carl. OK movie but overrated and nowhere near as good as the original, if this can even be considered a sequel.

I wouldn't go as far as to call Carl a "jackass" because of his opinion on the film. Personally, I disagree with Carl, believing this to be an incredibly enjoyable film, featuring superb acting, and some awesome pool footage. No, it's not as good as THE HUSTLER, but then what else is?

Let's respect the opinions of others, and not resort to name calling. That's childish and petty. Besides, you can do all of that stuff over at my personal webiste, linked under my profile off the staff's page!!

Nice review, nonetheless, Carl!

Oh, and Carl, not to be picky, but Paul Newman played "Fast Eddie" Felson, not Nelson.

So, is that a point for me?

I have no idea what you are talking about Brodie:) All I see are a couple of Felsons, not Nelsons. But for the record, I'll give you a point;).

Harry was directing that comment towards me, Brodie, not Carl - he was replying to my comment. The criticism about my five-star rating is the giveaway. What a troll.

I agree that the Hustler was the clear winner in a comparison of the two. With sequels or movies that rely on previous films the first made, in most cases, is the better. I did enjoy the up close pool action that Scorsese included in The Color of Money and thought it to be an exceptional movie for the times(80's). If you look back at many of the popular movies made at that time they were mostly following the high scool, colloge or music scenes. To take a movie that was geared towards Pool and make it as appealing(my opinion) as it was, I have to give Scorsese, Cruise, and Newman many kudos for a job well done. I still enjoy watching both films repeatedly to this day and always feel the urge to play pool afterwards : )
